The Last Places on Earth

Zanzibar August 2011

Here are images from a 2 week time I spent in Zanzibar. This island off the coast of Tanzania, seems to hold a special place in most people's minds as the ideally exotic destination, with its beautiful beaches, extremely diverse and colorful peoples, and the scent of spices wafting through the air. I was a bit laid up from injury, so did not travel the island extensively. But I did get up to the popular northern part of the island, and down south to the Jozani Forest, famous for being the last refuge of the nearly extinct Red Colobus Monkeys. Of course, I spent some time in historic Stone Town.
