The Last Places on Earth
Zambia Fall 2008
All pictures here are from the very famous South Luangwa National Park in Zambia, and a few others at the end from the Victoria Falls area. The South Luangwa National Park is considered by many to be amongst the best game parks in all of Africa. The wildlife in the park is extremely abundant. During my time there, the group I was with saw lions hunting at night, and a number of lions standing over recent kills during the day. At one of the lion kill sites, some baby lions were playing on top of the unfortunate and half eaten cape buffalo. It was quite cute. I have a picture of this included here. An interesting sequence of pictures on the second page of this gallery shows zebras taking a life-threatening, but necessary and common life long action----taking a drink of water (lions attack when their heads are down taking the drink). We also saw a leopard hunting at night, which apparently is a rare treat for visitors to see. I have a somewhat blurry picture of this in the gallery here.
