The Last Places on Earth

Iguazu Falls-Argentina and Brazil Border February 2011

Photos here from the Iguazu Falls area on the border between Argentina and Brazil. The falls, which rank as one of the most spectacular natural sites on the planet, straddle the border between the two countries. The view from each side is a different experience. The falls are set in a large tract of national park protected rainforest, and is an area of very high bio-diversity. The Iguazu Falls are more than just a set of waterfalls; it is a gigantic system covering a huge expanse, consisting of 275 cascades. The last set of pictures in this small gallery were taken on the Brazilian side. In the main lookout point there, surrounded by rugged mountains covered in lush green, with constantly cool mist all about, and dramatic powerful cascades bellowing down from three directions, one can be forgiven for feeling that this is a close approximation of paradise..
