Journeys in Our Disappearing World
by Gary Mancuso
The Last Places on Earth
This is the third of 3 photo galleries from a 26 day expedition I participated in during January 2012. The journey took us to the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, and the Antarctic Peninsula. This gallery is from our 7 days in the Antarctic Peninsula. The peninsular region of Antarctica is the northernmost region of Antarctica and has the most abundant life found anywhere on the continent. Gargantuan icebergs, stunningly beautiful scenery, ice-strewn waters, pods of orcas and humpback whales, vast penguin colonies of course, and other sea and birdlife, lit up our entire time in the Antarctic Peninsula from start to finish.
